Loleta Elementary School

Hello Students, Parents and Staff,

What an exciting year we have ahead with so many
changes.  First,  students in the 6th through 8th
grades will  experience a junior high rotation with
two teachers, PE, and electives.  We hope this
reorganization will better prepare students for high
school.  With this change come higher expectations
 for behavior and academics.

We also bid Ms. Watson farewell as she takes a
position closer to home.  Ms.Speers will be teaching
Kindergarten.  We expect great things in the Kindergarten room this year!

Also new this year, will be a Special Day Class located in the old Glen Paul room.  The district has hired Ms. Lindsay Crawford to teach this class along with Sandy Radic-Oshiro, (a behaviorist from the Humboldt County Office of Education).   Many of you know Sandy from our IEP meetings.

While Ms. Chavez is away on a leave of absence, Mrs. Roseberry will be taking the second/third grade.  Mrs. Roseberry is very excited to get back to being a primary classroom teacher again after several years of special education.

The district has hired a new Special Education Teacher, Ms. Monica Soon Smith.  Monica will be working from Ms.Speer's old room in the main building.

Our counselor, Miranda Johnston will have her very own room at the end of the hall, (Ms. Stehlow's old room).  Meanwhile, Ms. Strehlow  has moved in next to Ms. Culps to better serve the junior high rotation.

With so many changes, I plan on having an August Open House to give parents and students an orientation. As usual, I am available to speak with you at any time.  My personal cell phone is 498-1213  if I am away from the office.
